Street Delivery is the offspring of Generation Z, carefully nurtured and celebrated by Millenials, Gen Xers, Baby Boomers and even a few Alpha. This year, we’re giving the street and the voice of the GenZers a voice with it: together with Genștiri and Genrevistă we invite GenZ to tell the story of the city and the street as they feel it.
We seek not only to reconnect with the city, to understand its rhythms and changes, but also with those who are becoming its new adults, inhabitants who are now beginning to know their rights, their places, their space and their relationships with it. For Generation Z, adolescence and childhood has been interrupted: the stage in which essential emotional connections with both others and the city were being formed, in which independence and dreams were being created, has been suspended by isolation. The enforced turn to the virtual created not only inequalities, detachment or technological refuge in images, but also spatial voids – both physical and metaphorical – in the fragile personal inter-relational fabric.
We grown-ups have spent too little time analyzing or talking about it, thirstily retrieved moments of separation, and quickly reweaved our concrete habits. What about them?
Anti – estrangement. Or practicing love – of the city, of places, of ourselves, of others. These are the first things they shared with us, and by doing so they become our theme. Street Delivery Gen is, in all seriousness, a call to play.
Street Delivery is a project organized and funded by the Romanian Chamber of Architects through the Timbrul de Arhitectură and the Cărturești Foundation, in partnership with Bucharest City Hall, ARCUB, TIAB, GenȘtiri, supported by Banca Transilvania, curated by Baza. Deschidem orașul.
